What should I do if the eSIM is stuck activating on my iOS device?

If your eSIM shows “activating” or “activation failure” on your iOS device, don’t worry — this is a common issue, especially if you’ve installed the eSIM before arriving at your destination.

Even if it looks like it’s stuck, the eSIM is fully installed on your device. The activation will complete automatically once you arrive at your destination country/region and are within the network coverage area.

How do I check if my Android device supports eSIM?

eSIM compatibility on Android devices can vary depending on the manufacturer, model, region, and carrier settings.

Android is an open-source operating system, which means manufacturers and carriers can customize it. As a result, some versions of the same device may not include eSIM functionality.

Follow the steps below to check if your Android device is eSIM-compatible. Please keep in mind that the steps may vary depending on your device. For the most accurate information, contact your device manufacturer, vendor, or primary carrier.

On Samsung Galaxy devices:

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Connections.
  2. Tap SIM Manager.
  3. If Add eSIM is available, your device likely supports eSIMs.

On Google Pixel devices:

  1. Open the Settings app, then tap Network & internet.
  2. Tap the + sign beside SIMs.
  3. If the Connect to mobile network page has a "Download a SIM instead?" option, your device is eSIM-compatible.

On other Android devices:

  1. DIAL *#06# and press the Call button.
  2. If your device is eSIM-compatible, you should be able to view your device's eSIM unique identification number (EID).

Your device also must be carrier-unlocked to use an eSIM. This allows you to use multiple SIMs/eSIMs from different carriers.

To check if your Android device is unlocked:

  1. Remove your current SIM card.
  2. Insert a SIM card from a different carrier.
  3. The carrier name at the top of your screen should change.
  4. Try placing a call.

If the call connects, your device is unlocked. If the call doesn't go through, or you see a message saying the device is locked, it's still tied to your original carrier.

If you're still unsure about eSIM compatibility, it's best to confirm with your device manufacturer, vendor, or primary carrier.

When can I install my eSIM?

When you can install your eSIM depends on the eSIM’s activation policy.

  • Most eSIMs activate only when you arrive at your destination and connect to a supported local network.
  • Some eSIMs activate immediately upon installation, no matter where you are.

Before installing your eSIM, check the activation policy listed in the eSIM's technical details. This will help you avoid activating it too early.

How do I know when my eSIM will activate?

You can find this information in your eSIM's activation policy.

Before purchase:

  1. Search for the country you’re traveling to.
  2. Select the eSIM that suits your needs.
  3. Go to Product description to view the activation policy.

After purchase:

  1. Go to My eSIMs in your account.
  2. Tap See more details to view the activation policy.

The activation policy will state one of the following:

  • "The validity period starts when the eSIM connects to any supported network(s)": You can install the eSIM before traveling without activating it. The validity period will only begin once you arrive at your destination and connect to a supported network. Just make sure you’ve completed the setup steps on the eSIM installation page, then turn on your eSIM line when you're ready to connect.

  • "The validity period starts upon installation": The eSIM will activate immediately upon installation, even if you're not yet at your destination. This means the validity period begins as soon as it's installed, so be sure to time the installation accordingly.

How do I install and set up an eSIM on my iOS device?

Before you begin, make sure the following requirements are met to ensure a successful installation:

  • Your device is eSIM-compatible and network-unlocked.
  • You have a stable internet connection (Wi-Fi is strongly recommended) — this is essential for downloading the eSIM.

Once you're ready, you can install your eSIM using one of the following methods:
